<i>Porphyromonas gingivalis</i> enhances pneumococcal adhesion to human alveolar epithelial cells by increasing expression of host platelet‐activating factor receptor

چکیده
Streptococcus pneumoniae causes pneumonia by infecting the alveolar epithelium via binding to host receptors, such as platelet-activating factor receptor (PAFR). Although chronic periodontitis has been identified a risk factor, how periodontopathic bacteria cause is not known. We found that S. adhered PAFR expressed on A549 human epithelial cells stimulated Porphyromonas gingivalis culture supernatant, and this was abrogated PAFR-specific inhibitor. Among major virulence factors of P. (lipopolysaccharide, fimbriae gingipains [Rgps Kgp]), expression pneumococcal adhesion were executed in an Rgp-dependent manner. Lipopolysaccharide did induce expression. Hence, our findings suggest enhances alveoli inducing are responsible for this.

Keratinocyte growth factor enhances barrier function without altering claudin expression in primary alveolar epithelial cells.
Keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) has efficacy in several experimental models of lung injury; however, the mechanisms underlying KGF's protective effect remain incompletely understood. This study was undertaken to determine whether KGF augments barrier function in primary rat alveolar epithelial cells grown in culture, specifically whether KGF alters tight junction function via claudin expressio...
متن کاملTransforming growth factor β1 enhances adhesion of endometrial cells to mesothelium by regulating integrin expression
Endometriosis is the abnormal growth of endometrial cells outside the uterus, causing pelvic pain and infertility. Furthermore, adhesion of endometrial tissue fragments to pelvic mesothelium is required for the initial step of endometriosis formation outside uterus. TGF-β1 and adhesion molecules importantly function for adhesion of endometrial tissue fragments to mesothelium outside uterus. How...
متن کاملcell viability and cytokine production of human alveolar epithelial cells following exposure to sulphur dioxide
exposure to air pollutants is significantly associated with health risks ranging from bronchial reactivity to morbidity and mortality. however, the precise mechanisms are not always fully understood. the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of sulphur dioxide (so2) on cell viability and cytokine production of a549-human pulmonary epithelial cells. test atmospheres of so2 were genera...
متن کاملDexamethasone enhances LPS induction of tissue factor expression in human monocytic cells by increasing tissue factor mRNA stability.
Glucocorticoids, such as dexamethasone (Dex), are used clinically in the treatment of various inflammatory diseases. Dex acts by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory mediators, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1). It is surprising that Dex enhances bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induction of tissue factor (TF) expression in hum...
